The
Artshare project allows the viewer to purchase the Prints (Shares)
during the initial public offering and then return them if desired
in 2004 for double the price paid.
This
project addresses the relationship of value and commodity to art,
and also satisfies my desire to use art to administrate and create
micro-bureaucracies.
The
piece can be viewed solely as a financial vehicle or Shares may
be framed and displayed with no intention of being returned. A conceptual
completion will take place when (or if) Shares are returned in 2004.
I also hope that Shares will trade among investors after the initial
distribution.
This
project is designed to be more accessible and nonexclusive than
traditional gallery based work, which is one of the reasons Artshare
is distributed via the internet. I see this piece as an underlying
support for the work I will continue to create.
For
complete discription of the project, please read the back
of the Share.
