Han Bing creates abstract paintings consisting of blocks of colour, each of which can either be viewed individually, or part of a larger landscape painting. Han believes that abstraction is limitless, and the only constraint is our own bodies and senses. This work is part of Han’s series of ‘Light’, through which she leads the viewers to ponder on whether the light in her works are natural or artificial. Are we lured by the natural light to look outside the window, or have we become reliant on technology to learn about the our surroundings through browsing images on the web?
