Ming Wong (黃漢明)

Born in Singapore in 1971, Ming Wong is currently based in Berlin. Ming studied Chinese Art at the Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts, Singapore, and Fine Art Media at the Slade School of Fine Art, University College London. Wong’s videos and installations explore the intersections of language, identity, and performance. He is known for placing himself into reconstructions of emblematic World Cinema masterpieces from various genres, integrating his own new interpretations of their dialogues, narratives, and performance techniques in a unique approach, in which the inevitable differences from the originals highlight issues of racial and cultural identity, gender, language, and nationality.
